Looking to gain better knowledge of students' social justice motivations? Consider taking "Understanding and Supporting Student-led Activism," a free, self-paced online course focused on understanding student-led activism and helping young people engage in civic-improvement activities. The course is part of Youth in Front, a project and collection of resources for student activists and supporters launched by Learning for Justice, with support from Harvard and MIT, after the 2018 mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas School. The course explores past youth-led pushes for change and provides tools and resources (including information on legal considerations and other practicalities) and strategies for teaching about local justice issues. The website also features a facilitator's guide.

EL’s experienced team of writers and editors produces Educational Leadership magazine, an award-winning publication that reaches hundreds of thousands of K-12 educators and leaders each year. Our work directly supports the mission of ASCD: To empower educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
